Tuesdays are tough days—we all get that. But the burning question on many a local's mind: why does Acton's beloved Idylwilde choose Tuesday of all days to shut its doors? Those random Tuesday drive-bys frequently showcase a puzzled motorist, driving slowly past the outdoor plant section, casting furtive glances inside, wondering if the store is truly closed. And to answer that befuddled driver: Yes, it really is!

We reached out to Idylwilde seeking insight into this quirky choice. While we await their official response, one could speculate. A consistent day off is essential for staff wellbeing. Operating seven days a week could mean constant disruptions due to unforeseen employee absences.

Closing over the weekend? Unthinkable for a business! And Mondays? Well, they'd miss out on that lucrative Monday holiday crowd.

So, while it might be a slight inconvenience for frequent visitors like me, it's heartening to think that the employees might benefit from a well-deserved break.
