MCI Concord Advisory Board: Guiding the Future of Concord and Surrounding Areas

As part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Governor’s Budget Bill, the closure of MCI Concord has been proposed, marking a significant change for the community. Section 107 of the budget bill outlines the sale, lease, transfer, or disposal of the MCI Concord property, managed by the Commonwealth’s Commission of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). While the budget is still under review, it is anticipated to be approved by late Summer 2024.
The MCI Concord Advisory Board was established with a clear mission: to advise and guide the Select Board in determining the best course of action for the MCI Concord property, ensuring that the town’s interests are at the forefront. The board's work is informed by both community input and the diverse expertise of its members.
The Advisory Board’s Mission
The primary goal of the MCI Concord Advisory Board is to ensure that any decisions regarding the future of the MCI Concord property align with the community's needs and aspirations. The board aims to educate the Select Board on strategies that would benefit the town the most, drawing upon comprehensive research, expert opinions, and the voices of Concord residents.

Engaging with the Board
Public participation is a cornerstone of the board’s process. The Advisory Board encourages all residents to engage in the dialogue surrounding the future of MCI Concord. To facilitate this, the board will hold regular meetings, including listening sessions, focus groups, and public forums.

We're excited to see what comes of this. We have not attended a meeting. Worried about the traffic that new businesses in the area will cause. RTE 2 is already jammed!
